Refund policy
Return policy
We stand behind the fit, durability and features of The Shield. If it is not right for you, sending it back is simple, free and low on fine print. This policy explains exactly how it works.
Quick facts: 30 days to start your return · $0 return shipping · no "unworn only" rule · prescription inserts are final sale
01 · Your return window
You have 30 days from the day your package is delivered to you to start a return. The date that matters is when you first ask us to return the item, and the date the item is dropped into the mail. It is not the date we receive it back.
In other words, as long as your return is postmarked (scanned in by the carrier) on or before day 30, you are inside the window, even if it reaches our facility later.
Example: Your Shield is delivered on the 1st of the month. On the 30th you email us to start your return and drop the parcel at the post office that same day. It arrives at our facility on the 35th. That return is fully valid, because it was in the mail by day 30.
02 · What condition the product can be in
We do not have a long list of restrictions. You can return The Shield even if it has been worn, and even if the lenses are scratched, smudged or dirty from normal use. No questions asked.
Two simple conditions apply:
You return everything that came in the box. To qualify for a refund, the return must include all original contents: The Shield frame, the nose tip, all lenses included in your kit, the hard case, the soft pouch, the microfiber cloth and the instruction manual, along with the original packaging where possible.
The product was not damaged through misuse. Wear from cycling, running, or normal athletic activity is completely fine. What is not accepted is damage caused by using the sunglasses in a way they were clearly not designed for.
Not eligible for return: Damage that did not happen during cycling or normal athletic use. For example: using the sunglasses as work eye protection, deliberately breaking them (such as hitting them with a hammer), or any obvious misuse or abuse that no reasonable person would consider normal wear. Items damaged this way cannot be returned.
If a returned item arrives showing clear signs of misuse as described above, we will contact you before completing the return, and we reserve the right to decline the refund or to return the item to you.
03 · Prescription inserts
Prescription inserts are made to order for you, so all prescription inserts are final sale. They cannot be returned or refunded.
You can still return your sunglasses kit within the 30 day window, following the rest of this policy. Only the prescription add-on ($39 CAD for single vision or $99 CAD for bifocal) cannot be refunded.
We offer a 50% discount if you want your lenses remade for any reason.
Of course, if we made a mistake, we will remake your inserts for free.
04 · How to start a return
Email us at info@gvty.ca with your order number and let us know you would like to return your order. Our Canadian support team replies within 24 hours.
We will then email you a prepaid return shipping label. Print it, attach it to your parcel, and drop it off with the carrier before your 30 day window closes.
Please note: Return shipping is arranged and paid for by us through the label we provide. Please do not buy your own label or pay a carrier directly, as we are not able to reimburse shipping you purchase on your own.
05 · Your refund
Once your return arrives and we have confirmed it includes all original contents, we will issue your refund to your original payment method within 5 business days of us receiving and inspecting the return. After that, Shopify and your bank or card provider may take up to a further 10 business days for the funds to appear in your account.
Your full product price is refunded, including any shipping you paid on the original order. The prepaid return label is free to you. If your order included a prescription add-on, that amount is not refunded (see section 03).
06 · Prefer an exchange?
If you would rather swap for a different configuration or simply want a fresh unit, tell us in your email and we will arrange an even exchange instead of a refund. Exchanges follow the same 30 day window and the same condition requirements above.
07 · After the 30 day window
Returns for a refund are only available within the 30 day window described above. After day 30, your Shield is still covered by our lifetime warranty. See the Lifetime Warranty Policy below for full details.

Lifetime warranty policy
Every Shield is covered from day one by a lifetime warranty. If a covered part is damaged in a crash, drop or impact during cycling or athletic use, or fails because of a manufacturing defect, we will repair or replace it. This policy explains what is covered, how to claim, and how fees and shipping work.
Quick facts: lifetime coverage from day 1 · first 30 days free with shipping included · $5 CAD per part plus shipping from day 31 · prescription inserts have a 2 year limited warranty
01 · What the lifetime warranty covers
Your Shield is protected for its lifetime against crash, drop and impact damage that happens during cycling or athletic use, and against manufacturing defects.
Coverage includes, for example:
Lenses cracked, chipped or scratched in a crash, drop or impact while cycling or during athletic activity
Frames, hinges or ear grips that crack or break in a crash, drop or impact during cycling or athletic use
Nose tips damaged the same way
Manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship
Put simply: crash them, drop them, ride them hard. We have got you.
Covered parts: Only the frame, the lenses and the nose tip are covered. The frame counts as one part (this includes anything you cannot detach by hand, such as the hinges and ear grips), each lens counts as one part, and the detachable nose tip counts as one part. Accessories are not covered.
02 · What is not covered
The warranty covers the product as long as it is used as intended. It does not cover damage caused by using The Shield in a way it was clearly not designed for.
Warranty void: Damage that did not occur during cycling or normal athletic activity. For example: using the sunglasses as industrial or work eye protection, deliberately breaking them (such as hitting them with a hammer), or any other obvious misuse or abuse. Damage of this kind voids the warranty for the affected product.
Also not covered: normal wear and tear (such as scratches, scuffs and fading that build up from everyday use), loss or theft of the product, accessories such as the hard case, soft pouch and microfiber cloth, damage from unauthorized repairs or modifications, and cosmetic marks that do not affect function.
Prescription inserts: Prescription inserts are not included in the lifetime warranty. They have a 2 year limited warranty instead (see section 08).
03 · Who and what is covered
The lifetime warranty applies to the original purchaser and to the specific product purchased directly from GVTY at gvty.ca. Claims must be submitted from the same email address used to place the order, and we will need your order number or proof of purchase to process them. The warranty is non-transferable.
04 · Claims within the first 30 days
For the first 30 days after your package is delivered, warranty claims work just like our return policy. If something is wrong, we simply send you a new one, completely free, with shipping fully covered by us. Nothing to pay.
05 · Claims from day 31 onward
After the first 30 days, your product is still covered for life. From day 31, each claim costs $5 CAD per part claimed (see "Covered parts" in section 01), plus shipping.
Claim fee:
Parts claimed Fee
1 part $5 CAD
2 parts $10 CAD
3 parts $15 CAD
Each additional part +$5 CAD
Shipping is handled as follows. We arrange and provide the shipping. GVTY determines the shipping fee based on your location, and we create and provide the shipping label. You pay the claim fee and the shipping bill through Shopify at the time of your claim. You cannot buy your own label at Canada Post or from another carrier for a warranty claim, as the process runs through us.
How much shipping costs:
Shipping cost Who pays
First $50 CAD You. Your share is always the first $50, and for most locations the total cost lands within this, typically $13 to $25 CAD.
From $50 to $80 CAD GVTY. We cover the cost above your $50, up to a further $30 from our own pocket.
Above $80 CAD You. Any cost beyond the combined $80 is yours. We will always tell you the amount first, and you confirm whether you want to proceed before anything is charged.
Example: You live in Yukon, where shipping is far more expensive. You pay the first $50 CAD. We then cover the next $30. If the total still runs higher than $80, the remainder is on you, and we will confirm the exact amount with you before you decide whether to go ahead.
GVTY reserves the right to determine the applicable shipping fee and to charge a reasonable fee for warranty fulfilment after the first 30 days.
06 · How to file a warranty claim
All claims start by email. Send a request to info@gvty.ca from the email address you used to place your order, and include:
Your order number or proof of purchase
A short description of the problem
One or two clear photos of the damage or defect
Our Canadian support team replies within 24 hours. We will confirm your coverage, calculate the claim fee and shipping (day 31 onward), send you the payment link and label through Shopify, and get your repair or replacement moving as soon as the item and any fees are received.
07 · Repair or replacement
We will repair the affected component or replace it, at our discretion. Where possible we replace only the part that failed, such as a single lens or a nose tip. If a specific component is no longer available, we will provide a comparable replacement of equal or greater value.
08 · Prescription inserts · 2 year limited warranty
Prescription inserts are not part of the lifetime warranty. Instead, they have a 2 year limited warranty that starts on the day your order is delivered. It covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Covered:
Lenses that come loose from the insert frame without an impact or misuse
Lens coatings that peel, bubble or flake on their own under normal use and care
An insert frame or clip that cracks or breaks on its own, without an impact or misuse
Lenses we made that do not match the prescription you gave us
Not covered:
Scratches, scuffs and normal wear and tear
Accidental damage, such as crashes, drops, impacts or being sat on
Damage from misuse, heat, harsh cleaning products, unauthorized repairs or modifications
Errors in the prescription you gave us, or a prescription that has expired or changed
Changes in your vision, or simply not liking how the lenses feel (our 50% remake offer is there for that)
The small optical differences of polycarbonate compared to traditional CR-39 lenses, which we tell you about before you order
Loss or theft
How it works: Email info@gvty.ca from the email address you used to order, with your order number and one or two clear photos. We may ask you to send the insert back so we can inspect it. If your claim is covered, we will repair or replace the insert, or remake the lenses with the same prescription, at our discretion. There is no per-part claim fee for covered prescription insert claims. During the first 30 days after delivery, shipping is on us. After that, shipping works the same way as section 05. A repaired or replaced insert is covered for the rest of the original 2 years.
This limited warranty is non-transferable and applies to the original purchaser only. It does not limit any rights you have under consumer protection laws.
